Dell nearly confirms that it has smartphone envy

Ronald Garriques, the president of Dell’s consumer division (and former Motorola executive) said that Dell would talk to different carriers to see whether Dell can cater to their needs. It’s not clear which carriers Mr. Garriques was referring to, there was not a direct reference to a Dell smartphone, but during a Q&A session, Dell did not unmistaken Analysts who were implying that Dell would create a smartphone.

There are reports suggesting that Dell’s smartphones have been rejected by wireless carriers so far, considering they had

no differentiation.

Previous rumors suggested that Dell was looking at building an Android phone. In the past, Dell had a successful run with PDAs, but those device were eventually taken by by smartphones.
